The Kentucky Wildcats defeated Iowa State 87-71 tonight to advance to the Sweet Sixteen round of the men's NCAA basketball tournament. UK will meet Indiana next week at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta in the South Region semifinals. The Hoosiers defeated Virginia Commonwealth 63-61 tonight. The victories set up a rematch between IU and UK. The Hoosiers defeated the Wildcats 73-72 during the regular season.
Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
