A somewhat surprising development this week was the decision by the Greater Clark County Schools board to not renew superintendent Stephen Daeschner’s contract another year. Despite a rally held by supporters on Monday, and several who showed up in support at Tuesday night’s meeting, the board voted 5-2 not to extend his contract, which expires next summer. Daeschner was relatively well-compensated for a district of the Clark County size, but test scores rose under his leadership and in many cases exceeded expectations.News and Tribune editor Shea Van Hoy joined WFPL’s Devin Katayama Friday on State of the News to talk about the decision.
