Strong: Marshall Loss "Unacceptable"

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong says his coaches and team did not properly prepare for last Saturday’s game against Marshall. The visiting Thundering Herd handed the Cards a 17-13 defeat. At his Monday press conference, Strong was still clearly angry about the loss, the Cards’ second straight home defeat. "That's unacceptable, and it can never happen again," he said of his team's lackluster play. Strong said he and his staff fell short in their game preparation and the players were still celebrating a two-week old victory at Kentucky."We didn’t put that game behind us," he said. "We still lived off that game, and guys werestill all excited, and I saw it coming and I didn’t do anything about it. At pre-game warm-up I saw it coming. I started to blow the whistle, take the team off the field. But I just thought, okay, let’s get them out here and maybe when I call ‘team up’ they’ll get going and it never happened."The 2-2 Cards begin a two game road swing Saturday at North Carolina, which is off to a 4-1 start. They’ll begin Big East Conference play the following Saturday at Cincinnati.Click below to hear more of Coach Strong's remarks.
