UPDATED: Thousands Lose Power in Jefferson County

A heavy rain and wind storm that hit Louisville just before 6:00 this evening knocked out power to thousands in the county.9:57 UPDATE: With 103,500 customers in Louisville and 34,000 in southern Indiana without power, the mayor and LG&E officials told the media it could take days to fully restore power.The outages are widespread and crews have been called from Indiana, Arkansas and other states to help restore power. City officials have warned people to stay indoors unless they must go outside.Asked about the prospect of the utility company burying power lines to avert these large outrages, Chris Herman, Senior VP of LG&E says that conversation is premature.8:15 Update: Mayor Greg Fischer and utility company officials will address the outages tonight at 9 pm. LG&E is reporting more than 119,000 customers without power.
