Exploring the Electric Grid
We keep hearing about "the grid overload" or the "smart "grid" or "updating the grid" but how many of us really know how the power grid really functions? According to the US Department of Energy, "America operates a fleet of about 10,000 power plants with an average thermal efficiency around 33%. Efficiency hasn't changed much since 1960 . . .” And with the majority of the existing capacity 30 or more years old, we are going to have replace or update our electrical power sources in the near future. But how? Join us on Tuesday when we take a look at the issues surrounding the electric power grid.
