Narcissism
In Greek mythology, Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection and spent hours gazing fondly at it in the surface of a pond. Today's narcissists can bypass the pond and simply gaze at their own self-portraits on myspace. Reality TV and social media make us all think we should be famous - even if we don't have any particular talent for entertainment - and that everyone cares what we're having for lunch. This Wednesday we'll take a look at narcissism - how it develops, which aspects of our culture foster it, and how to deal with the insufferable narcissists in your life (and make sure you're not one of them!).
