IdeaFestival 2012 will kick off with a day-long conference about water--how we use it, what happens when there's not enough of it and how groups and countries are addressing the global water crisis.Speakers include Gil Holland (film producer and Green Building developer), Greg Heitzman (CEO of Louisville Water), Mark Hogg (founder and CEO of EDGE Outreach, which is now WaterStep) andGregory Luhan(Associate Dean for Research at the University of Kentucky College of Design). The IdeaFestival's website says the conference will focus on "water here, there and everywhere." The history and background of the difference water technology/hygiene made to this city, through flooding the falls for river traffic, to today's new riverbank filtration initiative and the potential to re-expose the falls...The need and scope of the global crisis and how Louisville (through WaterStep) is responding...Why Louisville could well become the leader in providing safe drinking water worldwide. Focus on corporate connections forged, the International Training Center, the experience being gained by local individuals toward real and lasting solutions, leading to the promise held in a future International Water Symposium and the benefits to our local community. The conference will be September 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Click here for more information.
