IUS Begins Next Phase of $11 Million Capital Campaign

Indiana University Southeast is beginning the public phase of its eight-year capital campaign. So far, the school has raised about $6.4 million of its $11 million goal. The silent phase of the campaign was for big investors to commit money. But Chancellor Sandra Patterson-Randles says donations come in all sizes during the public campaign.“I think nationally you would find that the majority of the giving is small amounts by an awful lot of people who have an interest in seeing the university be strong and giving back,” she said.Patterson-Randles says the school is hoping to use the funds for several pressing physical projects on the campus—like expanding the student activities building. But she says maintaining the school’s current scholarship programs and adding more funding opportunities are just as important.“Merit-based and need-based scholarships are a top priority for us,” she said. “And also we would like to get some more athletic scholarships. We have wonderful athletics teams here at IU Southeast. They’re a part of the KIAC and the NAIA and they do a wonderful job and we would like to help those students out as well.”The campaign continues through 2015.
