by Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighThe Kentucky Board of Elections has certified the results of the May 18th primary election. The board voted unanimously to certify the primary results, which locks in the numbers and makes the returns official. That means Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway and Republican Bowling Green physician Rand Paul are now officially their party’s nominees for U-S Senate.“In one sense, this may be a formality type of a meeting, but in another sense, without this meeting, neither Jack Conway nor Rand Paul are considered the nominees of their political parties," says Secretary of State Trey Grayson.Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo initially considered seeking a re-canvass of the vote in the U-S Senate Democratic primary, but quickly changed his mind and never filed a formal request.Vote recounts have been ordered in two northern Kentucky judge-executive races, but the eventual results will be certified at the county level.
