A "celebration of life" will be held at a later date for former Courier-Journal publisher George Gill, who died Saturday at the age of 75.His wife, Kay, says Gill had been in poor health in recent years. Gill began working at the paper in 1960 as a copy editor. He was noted for helping steer the paper through its sale by the Bingham family to Gannett Co. in 1986.Gill retired in 1993 and had been living in Oldham County. In addition to his wife, he's survived by two sons and four grandchildren.The Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood, is in charge of arrangements.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions Habitat for Humanity, American Printing House for the Blind or the Rotary Foundation.
