A Louisville businessman has joined the list of Republicans seeking their party's nomination for the Third District congressional seat held by Democrat John Yarmuth. Financial advisor Larry Hausman officially launched his campaign with a rally Monday morning at Bowman Field. He says he was spurred to action by what he calls "out of control" federal spending."I feel like the politicians in Washington care much more about being re-elected and the way they get re-elected is by bringing pork projects home and bringing things home that sound good to people. Most people didn't even realize that health care wasn't going to be free," he said.Three other Republicans, Todd Lally, Jerry Durbin and Jeff Reetz, have filed their candidacy papers for the Third District seat.Yarmuth has no Democratic opposition thus far. The filing deadline is Tuesday afternoon.
