From WFPL's Haley HartThe Louisville Metro Police Department teamed up with Greater St. Mark Baptist Church to prepare and deliver Thanksgiving dinners Wednesday to hundreds of homebound residents.Yvette Gentry, an acting Lieutenant Colonel with the LMPD and a member of the church, helped start the tradition eleven years ago.

“When I was a Louisville Police Officer, at the time, we started, um, to see a lot of seniors who were sick and shut-in, so we thought that we, we did a program in the summer to give them fans and air conditioners and we thought we would follow up around this time just to touch base with them again and to provide them with a hot meal,” she said. The two groups prepared and delivered more than 400 Thanksgiving meals.
