Gilda's Club Gets $95,000 From Federal Government

Gilda’s Club of Louisville received $95,000 from the federal government today to support its programs for children with cancer. The money was secured in an earmark by Congressman John Yarmuth. It comes from the Health and Human Services budget.During a press conference in the club’s preschool program, Gilda’s Club of Louisville President and CEO Karen Morrison says the organization also focuses on family members touched by the disease. “The pediatric program is not just the child with cancer," says Morisson, "but the siblings of that child, the parents of that child, in some cases the grandparents, everyone’s who affected in that circle.”Morrison says with the added funds, Gilda’s Club will create more support groups for children, and extend its summer camp by one week.
