Officials with the Kentucky Public Service Commission and Louisville Gas and Electric say they are willing to work with Mayor Jerry Abramson to study ways to improve the power grid. After last month’s ice storm, Abramson asked the commission to provide a forum for the Louisville Gas and Electric Company to tell the public what it would take to strengthen the power infrastructure.PSC spokesperson Andrew Melnykovych says the commission is ready to host such forum, but it is already planning a review of how utilities handled the ice storm.“Now that we’ve had two of these events in a fairly short period of time, we’re going to look at not just overhead lines but other issues such as vegetation management and design standards for electric infrastructure and look at those not just in Louisville, but throughout the state." says Melnykovych. No timeline for a report or forum has been set.
