In the wake of three lawsuits over budget cuts, Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson says everything is on the table for reducing costs.The Fraternal Order of Police, Teamsters and residents of Old Louisville have each filed suit against the city over the mayor’s efforts to deal with a $20 million shortfall. The corrections union is also reconsidering its proposed cuts. The Mayor says depending on the outcome of those cases, deeper cuts may need to be made.And even budget slashing will be necessary to carry the savings into the next fiscal year, which begins in July. Abramson says he’s not sure how much more will have to be cut.“We’re still waiting on the state to tell us – which will be the final shoe that will fall – in terms of what their cuts are going to be, and I’m afraid that those cuts will add to the difficult situation that we’re presently in," says Abramson.Abramson says for both fiscal years, all means of reducing spending, including layoffs, are being considered.
