Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson will meet with President-Elect Barack Obama’s transition team Thursday in Chicago.Abramson and eleven other mayors will discuss urban issues with team co-chair Valerie Jarrett. He says the mayors will give their input on whom the president-elect should choose to run a proposed Urban Policy Office.“Our hope is that the person who is selected for that position really is a facilitator and takes the silos of the federal government and works with them in a way to be able to have a much more comprehensive metropolitan agenda," he says. Also on the agenda is the infrastructure stimulus package – a multi-billion dollar investment in transportation-related improvements for cities that the president-elect supports. Abramson addressed Congress in support of such a package in October.
