Ballet's Executive Director Resigns

The Louisville Ballet announced Tuesday the departure of its executive director. WFPL’s Elizabeth Kramer reports.Jack Lemmon will leave the company effective December 31 to take on the same position at the Colorado Ballet in Denver. He’s been the Louisville Ballet’s executive director since 2003.David Calzi is the president of the ballet’s board of directors. He says the company intends to immediately begin a search for Lemmon’s replacement."We don’t have a definitive timeline right now, but we do expect in the next few months to be able to name a new executive director," Callzi says.During Lemmon's tenure, the company has raised dancers’ salaries and added 33 new works to the company’s repertory. He also managed an annual budget of approximately $3 million.Denver's Colorado Ballet has a $7.5 million budget.Before coming to Louisville, Lemmon held administrative posts with the Joffrey Ballet and the National Endowment for the Arts’ dance program.
