Jail Study Delayed

A report on how to address Louisville’s overcrowded jail will be submitted later than originally planned. In late November Mayor Jerry Abramson appointed an eighteen-member panel to investigate jail crowding and make recommendations on how to avoid further problems.   The committee was scheduled to present its report last month, but  wasn’t ready.Mayor Abramson says the panel needs more time to finish its work.“They continue to look at options to be more efficient, more effective and most importantly more cost effective in terms of the corrections services we deliver here in Jefferson County," he says.Abramsons says there’s no firm deadline for the final report, but he expects it will be completed in April.
