Today's ear X-tacy features a classic track or deep-cut from the Alternative era every weekday at 10:10.

Duran Duran released their debut single, “Planet Earth,” 42 years ago today. It was a preview of their self-titled debut album released in June 1981.

Thanks in part to the video receiving massive play on MTV, the song became a hit in their native England and worldwide. Who can forget the New Romantic fashion they wore or those dance moves?
