Louisville Public Media Announces Sprinkle Sparkle: The second podcast produced by LPM’s Podcast Incubator
Louisville Public Media (LPM) is proud to announce Sprinkle Sparkle, a new podcast produced by LPM Podcasts.
Hosted by Nubia Bennett, Sprinkle Sparkle was created for Black women and people of marginalized genders to intentionally cultivate pleasure as an act of resistance, defying everyone who tells them that they don’t deserve to rest or play, until it’s been “earned”— often by impossible standards. Each episode explores taking even small moments to focus on what brings pleasure and however there is access to it.
The first episode is available now and features writer Minda Honey and artist Shauntrice Martin. They join host Bennett, their longtime friend, for an exploration of the pleasure and power in friendships between Black women. Future episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays.
“Like so many people, when the pandemic stopped the world in 2020, I was released from a career that I over-identified with and was left wondering who I was outside of what I produced in the work that I thought I loved,” Bennett said. “I was curious how other marginalized people were making sense of this time; how they were making room for joy when or if they could; and how they found it within and around themselves to commit to thriving, anyway.”
“Black women's joy is put on the back burner again and again, due to responsibilities, respectability and bigotry,” said Laura Ellis, LPM Director of Podcasts and Special Projects. “It's been such a privilege to hear Nubia bring it front and center and give it the time and space it deserves. It's exactly the kind of work we want to uplift with the LPM podcast incubator."
Sprinkle Sparkle is the second podcast released through LPM’s Podcast Incubator program, following Where Y’all Really From that launched last September. The Incubator is designed to make podcasting more accessible to people of color, LGBTQ folks, immigrants and people of marginalized identities.

Nubia Bennett is a DEI and Leadership Development Manager at Leadership Louisville Center. Born and raised primarily in the West End of Louisville, KY in a family of artists and educators--she moves through the world on the belief that "where there is community, there is both power, pleasure and magic", so you will always find her where the people reside. She is an educator by training and experience, with a specific focus on learning and development, civic engagement, social justice youth development and pleasure activism. She is a curator of things, people, and experiences and is guided by her enthusiastic "yes" and firm, boundary-setting "no's". She moonlights as a bartender at Trouble Bar, serves on the Board of Trustees at Olmstead Park Conservancy, the Board of Directors at the Neighborhood House, and serves as an ambassador and occasional model for Sensual Bliss Life, which is a local women-centered lifestyle brand that focuses on inspiring confidence and sisterhood. When she is not out sprinkling her sparkle in the community, she is busy raising her teenage son, creating art out of food, drinks, photography, flowers and glittery things she finds along her pleasure journey.
The podcast incubator is made possible with support from The Community Foundation of Louisville, and The Eyecare Institute’s Butchertown Clinical Trials.
