90.5 WUOL Continues 2022 New Lens Concert Series: Featuring Longleash Performing in the Louisville Public Media Performance Studio

90.5 WUOL Classical Louisville is proud to continue the New Lens concert series, presented by 21c Museum Hotel. Exploring diverse and intriguing sounds and ideas in new music, art and society, this season of New Lens continues on Sunday, Aug. 14 with Longleash, a piano trio with a traditional instrumentation and a progressive identity.

They'll bring their program Far From Shore to the Louisville Public Media Performance Studio at 619 S. 4th Street.

Far from Shore explores distance, separation, reunification and transformation as sources of artistic inspiration, solace and unexpected beauty. In James Diaz's In Her Dream Song, the three performers orbit one another, shifting between separation and alignment in kaleidoscopic textures. Linda Catlin Smith's Far from Shore captures stillness from afar, painting a hazy seascape with spare outlines and gently undulating rhythms. In Anthony Vine's Trio, the 13th century Montpellier Codex finds itself transformed and reimagined in a contemporary context for violin, cello, and harmonium. Anthony Cheung's Flyway Detour draws inspiration from the phenomena of avian migration, and finds beauty in drifting from predetermined paths. In Baldwin Giang's Gaudeamus Award nominated Songs after Sufjan, Giang turns to the songs of singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens for creative inspiration in the face of loss and isolation.

New Lens is free, but seating is limited and a ticket is required by visiting Eventbrite.com. Seating opens at 6:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m.

The next New Lens concert will be Sunday, Nov. 13 at 21c Museum Hotel. Concert artists and details will be announced soon.
