WFPL Announces New Morning Edition, Midday Hosts

89.3 WFPL News has named Bill Burtonas the local host and producer of the NPR flagship news program, Morning Edition. The station has also hired Kathi Lincoln as WFPL’s new midday host and producer of The Diane Rehm Show, Fresh Air with Terry Gross, Here and Now, and Kentucky’s statewide newscast.

Burton has been a familiar voice on WFPL since 2012, when he began as a fill-in host. In his new role, he will be the local voice for “the most listened-to news radio program in the country” (NPR.org). Morning Edition airs on WFPL weekdays from 5-9 a.m., offering national and international news and analysis, as well as coverage of business, arts and sports. During the broadcast, WFPL News provides its award-winning local and state reporting to the community.

Burton has worked in radio for more than 25 years. He is also a book narrator for the American Printing House for the Blind.

Lincoln joins WFPL as host overseeing midday programming, including the statewide daily newscast service for the Kentucky Public Radio Network, which serves a combined audience of nearly 425,000 Kentuckians.

Lincoln attended both Eastern Kentucky University and Western Kentucky University, where she majored in Radio/Television Broadcasting. She spent eight years with Oldies 103.1 WRKA and was a morning personality at Lite 106.9 for a decade.
