Louisville Public Media is proud to announce that WFPL News has been selected to participate in NPR's Political Reporting Partnership, in which 17 member stations will contribute local, in-depth coverage of the 2016 campaign for a national audience.
The partnership is designed to strengthen NPR’s nationwide political coverage and bolster its sense of place during the coming presidential election year.
WFPL's politics reporter,Ashley Lopez, will contribute reporting for the initiative, which begins later this year. Her stories will focus on issues specific to Kentucky and the region, and examine how they relate to the 2016 presidential campaign.
Lopez will produce at least a half-dozen pieces for NPR broadcasts in the lead-up to the 2016 election, as well as posts for NPR’s politics blog. Her stories will also be available on 89.3 WFPL-FM and on wfpl.org.
“We’re thrilled for Ashley and for WFPL,” said LPM Executive Editor Stephen George. “There are important stories to tell in Kentucky and the surrounding areas as we approach this national election, and this partnership will provide us the opportunity to tell them — on a big stage, and in the way only WFPL can.”
