89.3 WFPL and The Kentucky Center present Reinventing Radio: An Evening with Ira Glass
(May 16, 2012 -- Louisville, KY)  89.3 WFPL is bringing Ira Glass to Louisville.  On Saturday, October 6th, at 8pm the award-winning host and producer of the nationally syndicated program This American Life will have a live show at the W.L. Lyons Brown Theatre.

Presented in partnership with The Kentucky Center, this performance will go on sale to the public on Friday, June 1st at 10am.  Members of Louisville Public Media or the Kentucky Center can purchase tickets now through their respective membership departments.  An exclusive VIP reception is available for purchase.

During his road show, “Reinventing Radio,” the creator of public radio’s This American Life talks about his program and how the acclaimed show is put together: what makes a compelling story; where they find the amazing stories for their show; and how he and his staff are trying to push broadcast journalism to do things it doesn't usually do. As part of this, Glass mixes stories from the show, live onstage, combining his narration with pre-taped quotes and music, recreating the sound of the show as the audience watches. He also plays funny and memorable moments from the show, and talks about what was behind their creation.

This American Life has won all of the major broadcasting awards and is often the most popular podcast in the country, It can be heard on 89.3 WFPL Saturday at noon and Sunday at 4pm. More information can be found at thisamericanlife.org and wfpl.org .
