It’s the ultimate intergalactic mix tape experience — inspired by Faust.

Louisville, KY (April 27, 2012) -- 91.9 WFPK is proud to broadcast a new program entitled Sir Microcosm beginning Wednesday, May 9th. It will be a weekly hour-long trip through the musical galaxy.

Join Louisville’s own Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Dave Givan, longtime friend and former Month of Sundays band mate, as they have a blast exploring the totality of the human musical experience -- and create the ultimate mix tape.

The show premieres on May 9 at 8 p.m., and can be heard on Wednesdays from 8-9 p.m. on 91.9-FM WFPK Radio Louisville and streamed on wfpk.org.

“Dave and I both LOVE making mix tapes, and dj-ing in general,” says Jim James, “so now we are DOUBLY excited to get to do it all on the air- with our beloved 91.9 WFPK! We want to provide listeners with the totality of the human experience, in a small, easy-to-digest capsule that can be taken audibly once a week,” James continues. “With regular use of Sir Microcosm, we believe that listeners will come to a better understanding of the human experience, and their place in it."

The show is being taped in Louisville as touring schedules permit.

“Louisville and WFPK are fortunate,” says WFPK Program Director Stacy Owen. “We relish the relationships we’ve developed over the years with the artists in our community. Jim has long been an unofficial part of the WFPK family, and now it’s official!”

91.9 WFPK is Louisville’s hub for independent, adult alternative music; an interactive community on-air, online, and at live performances throughout the year. WFPK is community-owned and operated and is part of Louisville Public Media.
