University of Kentucky basketball player Julius Randle is leaving the Wildcats after one season to enter the NBA draft. The 6-foot-9 forward is widely expected to be among the top five picks in the June 26 draft.Randle led UK in scoring and rebounding during the Wildcats NCAA Tournament run, which ended with a loss to Connecticut in the title game.
"I’m definitely going to miss it. Kentucky will always have a special place in my heart," Randle said at a Tuesday press conference. "Growing up as a kid , it’s always been my dream to play in the NBA, and there’s no better opportunity for me to achieve that goal than now."Randle is the second Wildcat to declare for the draft. Freshman guard James Young announced last week he would turn pro. Teammates Aaron and Andrew Harrison, Dakari Johnson and Alex Poythress have until Sunday to decide whether to enter the draft.
