Flash Flood Warning Issued for Louisville for Sunday Morning

Louisville is under a flash flood warning early Sunday after torrential rain fell on the city.The flash flood warning is ineffect until 2 a.m.,the National Weather Service said.Update: The flash flood warning has been extended again, this time to 8:45 a.m. Sunday. Flash flooding from Saturday night's storm was continuing into early Sunday morning, the weather service said.A record 5.91 inches of rain fell onLouisville on Saturday,the weather service said.More rain is expected in Louisville between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. It will be "light to moderate," but will still worsen the flash flooding issue, the weather service said.MetroSafe adds (via Facebook):  Most of the flooding is from Beargrass Creek and the following areas have decided to evacuate with the assistance of the fire departments: Rockcliff & Peabody, Whispering Hills, and Guardian Court. Remember: Turn Around/Don't Drown! Never drive or walk through standing water!Update: The flash flood warning has been extended to 7 a.m. in Louisville. Another line of strong storms is heading toward the city after 3 a.m., the weather service said.Earlier: In a statement issued at 10:10 p.m., the National Weather Service said an inch of rain was possible over the next several hours.Underpasses, small creeks or streams, city streets, highways may be flooded, the weather service says. The weather service adds that people should be especially cautious at night because of reduced visibility.The weather service says 1 to 2 inches of rain are possible Sunday. With heavy rains on Saturday, the St. James Court Art Show was canceled for Sunday.
