The Jefferson County Board of Education is claiming that 396 school buses from a Delaware manufacturer are faulty.The school district filed a lawsuit Friday alleging that it's had numerous problems with engines and other parts to buses from Navistar, which was named as a defendant in the suit. JCPS also alleges that the issues with engines, plus premature rusting and broken doors.A Navistar spokesman said the company does not comment on pending litigation.The buses were bought through the state bidding process from 2005 to 2011—and the school system argues that Navistar represented the buses as working on par with competitors. Now, JCPS argues that its mechanics and technicians have done "substantially greater" amounts of work on the Navistar buses than on other buses in its fleet. JCPS also alleges that the buses have a "drastically shorter" life expectancy than other buses in its fleet. The school district adds that the the company and its affiliates haven't lived up to warranties on the school buses.See the lawsuit below:
