Mohler Discusses Theology With Former President Jimmy Carter

Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President Albert Mohler spoke with former President Jimmy Carter for his Thinking in Public podcast show to discuss theological and cultural issues.Over the years, Mohler has been a conservative critic of Carter's liberal interpretations of The Bible, such as saying there is salvation for people "outside of faith in Christ" and that all persons will be saved. In his new book, NIV Lessons From Life: Personal Reflections with Jimmy Carter, the former president comes out in support of gay marriage and he recently split with the Southern Baptist Convention over its view towards women in the pulpit."I separated from the Southern Baptists when they adopted the discriminatory attitude towards women, because I believe what Paul taught in Galatians that there is no distinction in God’s eyes between men and women, slaves and masters, Jews and non-Jews," Carter told The Huffington Post. "(E)verybody is created equally in the eyes of God." Entitled "The Bible Meets the Modern Age: A Conversation with Former President Jimmy Carter" the conversation covers the former president's background, influences, biblical interpretation and the Southern Baptist Convention.
