A financial gift announced today will allow for the expansion of a resource center for patients and families at the University of Louisville’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center. Director Dr. Donald Miller says the gift comes from Raymond and Eleanor Loyd of Louisville. Both are cancer survivors who received treatment at the Brown Center, as did their daughter, Krista, who died in 2007.The resource center is being renamed in Krista’s honor."It provides things like wigs for women getting breast cancer treatment, it provides massage therapy, Reiki (stress reduction) therapy for patients and their families and it’s just to really help people get through a bad time," Miller said. The amount of the gift from the Loyds was not disclosed, but Miller describes it as "substantial."
