Nationwide Drug Shortages Felt in Louisville: State of the News

Growing numbers of patients being treated for cancer and other illnesses aren’t able to get the medicines they need. The FDA attributes drug shortages — which have tripled over the past six years — to many factors, including a lack of raw materials, and pharmaceutical companies’ decisions to stop making older drugs (which can be less profitable).The Courier-Journal’s Laura Ungar took a look at drug shortages in Louisville and she joined us this past Friday on State of the News to explain what she found out.
