Indiana residents who missed a deadline for adding their cell phones numbers to the state’s do-not-call registry blocking telemarketing calls have extra time to sign up.Molly Butters with the state Attorney General’s Office says the deadline, which was last Tuesday night, has been extended until 11:59pm Monday to accommodate late demand. People who sign up by then should have calls from unwanted solicitors stopped on July 1st. Those who register afterward will be added to the list in October. Butters says the General Assembly approved a bill this week that expanded the list beyond telephone land lines."Now it’s very clear that cell phones do benefit from the protection of the do-not-call list, as well as VOIP phones, voice over IP telephone lines that you might be using at home. And also it restricts the ability of telemarketers to text you on your cell phone unsolicited," she said. Kentucky already has a do-not-call registry for cell phones.Indiana residents can register here or by calling 888-834-9969.(Information for this story also came from the Associated Press)
