By Sheila Ash A Louisville organization that provides a recovery program for drug and alcohol addicts needs to raise more money in order to secure an $800,000 matching grant. The money would be used to pay for a new women and children’s center.The Healing Place has asked the Kresge Foundation for a 90 day extension to raise 700 thousand dollars. The Michigan-based foundation required the organization to raise $1.2 million by the end of 2010 to secure the matching grant.But the Healing Place’s “Hope Has a Name Campaign” has raised a little more than $500,000 since launching in November.Vice President of Development Jay Graham says if the extension is denied, the campaign will continue."We’re still going to pursue this, we’re still going to keep moving forward, we’re still going to use our Hope Has a Name campaign in the coming days, and weeks and even months if we need to continue to because it’s been a very good outreach into the city," he said. Graham says he’s optimistic Kresge will grant the extension because of the amount of money raised so far.The organization has served the Louisville area for 21 years.
