Crews Still Monitoring Road Conditions

By Sheila Ash State and local transportation crews are keeping an eye on road conditions in Jefferson and surrounding counties.A winter storm moved through early Thursday, dumping a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain on the region.Andrea Clifford with the Kentucky Department of Transportation says road conditions improved as temperatures rose, but sections can refreeze. "We have crews you know that are still you know at the facilities now. They’re monitoring they can go out and spot treat as necessary and they are kind of watching those bridge decks, elevated areas," she said. Ice accumulations were up to half inch in some areas.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
