The Kentucky Board of Education will meet in Frankfort Tuesday and Wednesday. Much of the board's time will be spent preparing to implement Senate Bill One, which passed last year.Among other things, SB1 revises the evaluation and testing standards for schools. Department of Education spokesperson Lisa Gross says before the legislation takes full effect, the board must revise dozens of regulations to comply with the new law."There are various statutes that it revises," she says. "And so the board has to really look at all of those and all of their accompanying regulations so that they make sure that they're following and we're following the letter of the law as required by Senate Bill One."Gross says the board will not likely take any action on the revisions this week. The panel meets again in February, and must have the revisions complete by the start of the 2011 school year.
