A record 184 horses are pre-entered for next week's Breeders' Cup Championships at Churchill Downs. The event, now expanded to two days, features the world's top thoroughbreds competing for $26 million in purse money. The Breeders' Cup is at Churchill Downs for the seventh year since its creation in 1984, and will return to Louisville next year.Event CEO Greg Avioli expects attendance to be boosted by the return of the undefeated filly Zenyatta to the $5 million Breeder's Cup Classic race. "She's a true superstar. So from the event perspective, that's manna from heaven. Add on to that, she truly has her own personality with the dance steps, with the way she takes in the crowds, and of course, the great last-to-first running style," he said. The 14-race Breeders' Cup Championships will be held November 5 and 6.(Photo of Zenyatta from www.Zenyatta2010.com)
