Volunteers Still Sought For World Equestrian Games

By Stu Johnson, Kentucky Public RadioThe much anticipated World Equestrian Games officially get underway Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park and officials say volunteers are still welcome for the event.Some seven thousand volunteers have registered to help out with the 16 day international event. Still, that may not be enough. Games CEO Jamie Link says it would be ideal to have another three to four hundred volunteers available.“We realize there will probably be some attrition throughout the event people may not be happy with the weather or with their job or something or they must just get tire so we realize that some people with probably drop out so we need more volunteers on standby,” he said.Link says the World Games call center is getting busy. He says six weeks ago the center was getting 80 to 90 calls a day. The volume is up to about 250 calls daily. More information about the games is at
