Why Smart people Make Dumb Decisions

We've all known people like them. They're the folks who have super IQs, aced the SAT, and work as engineers or researchers… and fall for every get-rich-quick scheme that comes their way, and can't remember when it's time to put gas in the car. Psychologist Keith Stanovich's work focuses on reasoning, rationality, and decision making, and how high intelligence isn't necessarily accompanied by common sense. Stanovich was awarded the 2010 Grawemeyer Award in Education for his research, and he'll join us Thursday for a conversation about why smart people sometimes make such dumb decisions.
