Campaign Finance & the Supreme Court
In a 5-4 split, the Supreme Court ruled last month that corporations have the same First Amendment rights as individual citizens where campaign finance is concerned. The decision says that limiting corporate funding of independent political broadcasts in candidate elections is unconstitutional; it overrules established precedents and is predicted to drastically change the way elections are run.
