United Parcel Service announcd Friday that it will eliminate 1,800 white collar jobs as part of an effort to streamline its U.S. small package segment. Company spokesperson Mark Dickens says none of the cuts involve UPS operations in Louisville."The primary impact is going to be to our domestic small package operations. Of course the bulk of our operations in Louisville are associated with Worldport and the air hub, so by and large we're going to see very little if any impact in the Louisville area," he said. The company is consolidating some of its 46 district offices. Its Kentucky district office, based in Cincinnati, will merge with the Indiana district office in Indianapolis.
