Kentucky Department of Corrections officials say damage assessment continues at the Northpoint Training Center, a medium security prison in Boyle County where a riot broke out Friday night.
Several corrections officers and inmates suffered minor injuries and there is extensive fire damage throughout the facility in Burgin, Kentucky. Corrections officers used tear gas to quell the melee.Officials say they have been moving many of the prison's 1,200 inmates to other facilities.There is fire damage in all but one of the prison's dormitories, along with the medical building, canteen and multi-purpose building.Corrections officials say they're trying to determine the cause of disturbance.(Photo from Kentucky Department of Corrections)
