Thousands of students in the Cathlolic Archiocese of Louisville school system are returning to class this week, many of them on Wednesday.Superintendent Leisa Schulz says total enrollment is expected to exceed 20,000.
One school, Saint Mary Academy, is operating on a new campus in eastern Jefferson County. "Saint Mary is our latest regional school that was formed from the former schools of Mother of Good Counsel School here in Jefferson County and Immaculate Conception School out in La Grange (in Oldham County)" Schulz said.The Archiocese of Louisville has 48 elementary and secondary schools in seven Kentucky counties.Schulz says new academic intiatives this year include a system-wide assessment of technology literacy and a redesign of the elementary schools' mathematics curriculum.(Photo from www.saintmaryacademy.com)
