The first in a series of meetings to develop a traffic management plan for the new Louisville arena was held Thursday morning.More than a dozen agencies and institutions are involved in the process.A November 1 deadline has been set to finish the plan.Paula Yancey of the Texas-based arena consulting firm PC Sports says Louisville already appears prepared to handle a new venue along the river."I think the nice thing about downtown Louisville is there's quite a bit of parking, and also you guys have the benefit of having huge events downtown quite often. Thunder over Louisville has already kind of acclimated people to coming into downtown and learning where they typically park and for the most part a lot of people have an idea of where they want to park and where they want to be," Yancey said. The arena at Second and Main Streets is scheduled to open in the fall of 2010.Officials say the public will soon have an opportunity to contribute to the plan by way of the Louisville Arena Authority's website.
