Business Owner Says Customers Prefer Shallow Lake Cumberland

The water level at Lake Cumberland will remain below average for the third summer in a row, but one area businessman says he prefers the shallower lake.The southern Kentucky lake is low because the Army Corps of Engineers is repairing the Wolf Creek Dam. When the work began, business at the lake dropped off, but State Dock Marina President Bill Jasper blames the decline on media reports that suggested the lake was nearly empty.Now Jasper says his business has mostly recovered."If you walk the docks and talk to the people that come every weekend, you'll find more people that tell you they like it better this way than would like it brought back," he says.Jasper says one of the biggest advantages of the lower water level is that less debris and litter end up in the lake.
