From WFPL's Cassidy HerringtonBernheim Forest celebrates its 80th birthday this year with the addition of new activities and events during the summer months.Spokesperson Susan Ritter says many new programs have been developed especially for young people who visit the 14,000 acre preserve in Bullitt and Nelson counties.“The ultimate goal that we have in everything we do is to connect people with nature that’s our mission statement, and we are especially interested in the children as the new generations come up and we want to make sure that every future generation has a relationship with nature," Ritter said.Summer events include Bernheim’s 80th anniversary bash on July 11, and full moon night hikes.
