A production team from the Animal Planet reality series "Jockeys"has been at Churchill Downs this week, following three Kentucky Derby riders who will be featured in the show's second season. Two of them, Joe Talamo and Mike Smith, were part of the first season of the program, which gave viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of seven jockeys.
Talamo, who will be aboard early Derby favorite I Want Revenge, says he agreed to do the show to help give the sport more exposure."Really just to get it out there, what jockeys do and how the racetrack is. It's kind of a different world out here than anywhere else and we thought it would be fun to share that with everyone," Talamo said. The second season of "Jockeys" will also feature Derby rider Garrett Gomez. It begins in August.
