From Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighCincinnati Bell customers in six Northern Kentucky counties will soon find their White Pages phone directory online. The company is phasing out the printed version, except for customers who specifically request it. Andrew Melnykovych of the Kentucky Public Service Commission says Cincinnati Bell is the first local exchange carrier to move in this direction, but likely won’t be the last.“I think it’s just part of the ongoing transformation we’re seeing in the telecommunications industry," says Melnykovych. "We’ve certainly, over the last decade, seen the demise of the pay telephone, the dramatic increase in the number of people using wireless devices and abandoning land lines.”Melnykovych says the PSC directed Cincinnati Bell to continue including emergency and government information listings in the Yellow Pages, which will continue to be distributed in printed form to all of the company’s Kentucky customers.
