Louisville Metro Parks will hold two public hearings Thursday for input on future plans for two sites: Charlie Vettiner Park off Billtown Road, and the 95 acre Mahoney property in Fern Creek. The latter site was purchased by Metro Parks in 2007 as part of a plan to build a privately funded recreational center for people with disabilities. But spokesperson Jason Cissell (SISS-ull) says that project has since been cancelled."Unfortunately the economy made fundraising for that difficult. we're working with the foundation that had originally proposed that on some other opportunities to serve people with disabilities. But meanwhile, we're treating the property where that was going to be built as a blank slate," Cissell said.Thursday's public hearing for Vettiner Park will begin at 5:30pm; the Mahony property will be discussed starting at 7:15. Both hearings be held at Farmer Elementary School off Gelhaus Lane.
