Indiana Smoking Ban in Hands of Senate

Hoosiers are one step closer to a statewide smoking ban, following legislation approved by the state House. It now rests in the hands of the Senate. The Democratic-controlled House approved a version of a ban that includes exemptions for bars, casinos and horse tracks. Those exemptions weren’t in the original bill.Republican Senator Pat Miller says she isn’t sure what kinds of changes the GOP-led Senate may make."I suspect the bill will fare fairly well in the Senate," says Miller, "what I don’t know is what kind of amendments will be considered here, because I just don’t know what committee will be dealing with the issue."Miller is the chair of the Health and Provider Services Committee. She says the smoking ban legislation will likely be assigned to a committee by the beginning of next month.
