Yarmuth Predicts Passage Of Stimulus Bill

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are back at work this week, ironing out details of a massive economic stimulus package proposed by President-elect Barack Obama.Congressman John Yarmuth of Louisville serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, which is debating the plan."We know the rough outlines, $800 billion. It's a massive spending program that will attack the economic problems we have in a number of ways. Infrastructure, education, extending unemployment benefits, a tax cut for middle class taxpayers, and help for state governments to meet their needs in the medicaid field and other areas," Yarmuth said Monday.Yarmuth says despite misgivings among some lawmakers about the size of the proposal, he's confident it will have enough support for passage.
